So you have decided to tie the knot, fab and may we be the first to congratulate you!
Now, you have decided on your theme “VINTAGE” so let me inspire you with my first wedding blog for “We Heart Vintage”. Over the coming months I hope to bring you ideas and inspiration to help you plan your perfect bespoke vintage wedding. From your dress, colour scheme, invitations, flowers, cake, menswear, venue decoration, photography, entertainment, the list goes on…
This month I will be looking at wedding venue decoration for you – ENJOY.
Table Plans/Table Names
You can be as quirky as you like with your table plan, and this is something your guests will stand and look at for a little while and will definitely discuss, from your table names to how it is laid out. Here are a few lovely ideas for you. So you can be as quirky as you like with your table plan and link it up with the table names. Think of a theme that represents the two of you, do you read? Do you like the seaside? Where is your favourite destination? Are you into films? Are you both into sport? Music… You get the idea, you can then incorporate this to your table names, book titles, destinations special to you, music/songs/groups, this will then help your guests interact with each other as they may be friends and family that don’t know each other but know your interests and this will get them talking.
Your table names could break the ice and start conversation. You could let your guests get to know you even more as a couple, or perhaps create a fun game with your table names.
Here are a few DIY ideas for your vintage style wedding which will help to keep your costs down, from collecting your corks from wine bottles and asking your friends to do the same, shame that you have to enjoy a bottle or two along the way!!! I also love the idea of using seashells collected from your travels. And how pretty does a simple plant look with just the table number on? Or how about using old keys and luggage labels with ribbon or lace.
There are so many options when looking for your table decorations from, using old books with a jam jar on top with a few wild flowers, to vintage teapots and cake stands full of flowers or how about silver teapots and coffee pots for more of an elegant feel? Or rustic terracotta pots with herbs and flowers look and smell amazing.
Venue Decoration/Over all look
You may fancy the rustic feel, so a barn or out building that can be tweaked for your special occasion. Or you may be going for that beautiful manor house or hotel and the fabulous elegant feel. And if you’re on a tight budget then how about doing it yourself and going for the local village hall, where you can dress up the room with fabric bunting and use your Nan’s crochet doily’s and table cloths, old books, cases etc. to dress up the room.
I hope I have inspired a few of you “Brides To Be” out there with some of my photos and as I said over the next few months I will be looking at all other aspects to help create your perfect wedding, in the meantime if you need any help or advice I am here… I work and own a small quaint little shop that is over 300 years old in Frimley, Surrey. I myself make bespoke hats, fascinators and bridal pieces, bridal floristry from silk to fresh flowers. I have a small beautiful selection of vintage bridal gowns going as far back as the 1930’s, and can also help you source your dress if you require something unique? I also stock an eclectic mix of hand crafted wedding gifts, and can make bespoke pieces if required from table plans, invitations the list is endless. I can also offer the hire of Vintage Crockery for your wedding or party. With a little black book of amazing local suppliers in the wedding industry if I can’t help they can or will know someone who can!!!!!
